Course Overview

So you want to become an AHA Instructor?  The AHA Instructor Course teaches the methods needed to effectively instruct others in resuscitation courses.  The AHA requires that Instructor be at least 16 years of age for the Heartsaver and BLS Instructor courses.  ACLS and PALS Instructors must be at least 18 years of age and licensed or certified in a healthcare occupation where such skills are within the scope of practice.

Who Should Attend

The Ideal instructor candidate is motivated to; teach, facilitate learning and ensure students acquire the skills necessary for successful course completion.  The ideal instructor candidate views student assessment as a way to improve individual knowledge and skills.

Prerequisites

All Prospective participants in an instructor Course must

  • Have current Provider status in the discipline they wish to teach
  • Have completed an Instructor Candidate Application
  • Complete the Core Instructor Course
  • Have the most recent edition of the AHA Provider Manual for the discipline they wish to teach

The following are the steps to become an AHA Instructor

  1. Complete the instructor candidate application. (please cal our office for the form and to discuss eligibility)
  • Must be aligned with a AHA Training Center
  • Must have a current instructor complete the instructor potential portion of the form.
  1. Complete the AHA Core Instructor class
  2. Complete the discipline specific Instructor Course
  3. Be successfully monitored by the primary Training Center.

AHA Instructor Core

The course fee is $120 for 5.9 Contact Hours and includes the AHA Core Instructor Course  & AHA  Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

BLS Instructor Course

The course fee is $135 for 5.9 Contact Hours and includes the BLS for Healthcare Providers Instructor Manual, BLS for Healthcare Providers Student Manual and Heartsaver CPR and AED.

ACLS Instructor Course

The course fee is $115 for 5.9 Contact Hours and includes the AHA ACLS Instructor Manual.

PALS Instructor Course

The course fee is $115 for 5.9 Contact Hours and includes the AHA PALS Instructor Manual.
